After entering the stage with a track on Karmarouges various artist sampler “Traumschwiegersöhne” in late 2007 now it’s up to drum and percussion artist OELER to release his first 12” project. Since 1991 OELER joined various Rock, Pop and Jazz projects and started to dive a little more deeper into the techno and 4-to-the-floor cosmos in early 2007. He is the one who performed the drums on Gabriel Anandas latest album “Bambusbeats”. Nowadays he hits the scene with his three track 12” Achterbahn.

klickklackklub +++ c/o Pop - Special

Der KlickKlackKlub steht für Experimente, einen musikalisch hohen Anspruch und legt Wert auf die Erzeugung von Stimmung statt auf Werbegetöse durch windige Versprechungen. Das Programm in 2007 wird geprägt von den Karmarouge Records Labelacts, besonderen Gästen und Respekt-Bookings - oftmals unangekündigt.

Persona vs. Karmarouge

Eine doppelte Labelparty als Leckerbissen für Soundfetisch und Soundästheten. Mit Persona und Karmarouge treffen zwei stilistisch ähnliche und dennoch völlig unterschiedliche Labels aufeinander, was ganz sicher sehr spannend wird. Persona, das Label des legendären Stewart Walker der mittlerweile in Berlin lebt, hat in den letzten Jahren wieder Fahrt aufgenommen und mit starken Platten von Andrea Satori, Reynold, “Labelchef” St. Walker und ganz besonders von Touane mehr als überzeugt, was letzten Endes auch zu dieser Kooperation den Ausschlag gab, wie auch für gewisse Remixaktivitäten auf Karmarouge.

Touane - Live - bedeutet gute 90 Min. in eine ganz “deepe“ Abfahrt einzutauchen, in der er es schafft auf großartige “Hands Up Momente“ zu verzichten ohne dass sie jemand vermissen wird. Wie in einem detaillierten Film der sich stetig und genüsslich aufbaut. Seitens Karmarouge wir das Programm durch Cio D´or und Labelmacher Alex.C. Multhaup mit zwei weiteren Soundfreaks ergänzt, die das ganze sowohl auf- als auch abrunden. Einmal mehr liegt der Schwerpunkt in langen, erlebnisreichen Sets die auch was wagen. Des Weiteren wird es noch eine “Nichtraucher - Lounge“ mit Loungesound geben.

Die bewegten Bilder der ebenso besonderen Güteklasse machen natürlich klickklackklub - typisch die Vj´s Blausand & Ruthene...

Im fünften Jahr c/o pop wird der Schwerpunkt der Clubnacht neu justiert: Im Rahmen der Clubnacht »Local Heroes« werden erstmalig nicht Labels im Mittelpunkt stehen, sondern die äußerst vitale und vielseitige Veranstalterszene in Köln ein einzigartiges Forum erhalten, innerhalb dessen der Status Quo der hiesigen Clubkultur präsentiert werden soll.

Im Rahmen der c/o pop - “Local Heroes - Clubnacht 2008“ steigt am Samstag, den 16.August im Odonien ein Gemeinsames Event von Treibstoffklub & klickklackklub.

After a few 12" releases on Kompakt, Sportclub and Spielzeug it was time for Axel Bartsch to produce his first soloalbum. Axel Bartsch was searching for a suitable record label which put him in the position to produce his album even-handed and without any ulterior motives of a top selling 12" record. For Axel Bartsch it solely was essential to have the best possible artistic conditions for his album production and Karmarouge gave him the oppurtunity to do it his way.

As many brilliant ideas he took the final decision to name his album on the loo while reading an interview about Michael Mayers last album release. Axel Bartschs idea for the album titel comes out of his passion about music, because music is like kissing, highly emotional and sensual, the feeling of approaching lips...KISS...like kissed by music.

Es ist schon wieder soweit...

...die Cologne Summer Tunes findet am Samstag den 26. Juli zum 5. Mal statt. Tagsüber wird ein kleines aber feines Open Air Festival im Kölner Blücherpark steigen, und mit einer grossen Afterparty im Artheater seinen krönenden Abschluss finden. Das musikalisch qualitativ ansprechende Programm setzt sich aus Bekannt- und Freundschaften aus dem Karmarouge Records Umfeld zusammen und ist definitiv der Garant für gute Stimmung.

Die Cologne Summer Tunes sind das Zusammentreffen positiver Energien und kollektiven Schaffens. Der Background der Cologne Summer Tunes besteht aus einem kreativen Netzwerk, der gemeinsamen Freude für qualitativ hochwertige elektronische Musik, dem Interesse an nachhaltigen Inhalten und daran, etwas Gutes auf den Weg zu bringen.

Wie bereits in den vergangenen Jahren, steht auch 2008 der Benefiz-Charakter im Mittelpunkt der Veranstaltung. Diesmal bieten wir dem engagierten Projekt "Gemeinsam Gegen Armut" ein Forum zur Präsentation.

Zum Frühlingsbeginn präsentiert der klickklackklub am 14. März 2008, im Rahmen einer Karmarouge Labelnight, die Releaseparty zum Axel Bartsch Album 'Kiss'.

Axel Bartsch, welcher gemeinsam mit Franco Zeiger aka Asem Shama das Label Sportclub betreibt, ist nach mittlerweile über 50 Releases längst kein Unbekannter mehr im Kosmos der elektronischen Musik. Insbesondere mit dem Projekt Vanguard, konnte er weltweiten Erfolg verbuchen. Neben Veröffentlichungen auf Labels wie Bush, Planet Of Drums, Frisbee Tracks und Spiel-Zeug war es vor allem die Speicher 32 auf Kompakt Extra, die für seinen Solo-Erfolg wegweisend und das Trittbrett für viele weitere erstklassige Releases war.

Nun präsentiert der Berliner sein erstes Album 'Kiss' auf Karmarouge Records, das am 14. April 2008 als 2x12" Vinyl und als CD erscheinen wird. Mit seinen cluborientierten Tracks, verwöhnt uns Axel Bartsch mit Minimal Tunes im satten Groovegewandt und geht klar in Richtung 4-to-the-floor. Dem hochgeschätztem klickklack Publikum dürften sicher einige der Tracks wohlbekannt sein, da sie schon so manches Mal in der letzten Zeit auf dem Floor für Freundenausbrüche und Furore sorgten. Unterstützt wird Axel Bartsch durch die klickklackklub Residents Con.Passion und Alex Multhaup.

Stranger things have happened - but this one definitely gets a pretty high ranking. They are called the Vegetable Orchestra, they are from Vienna and they use musical instruments made out of vegetables.
Using carrot flutes, pumpkin basses, leek violins, leek-zucchini-vibrators, cucumberophones and celery bongos, the orchestra creates its own extraordinary and vegetabile sound universe. The ensemble overcomes preserved and marinated sound conceptions or tirelessly re-stewed listening habits, putting its focus on expanding the variety of vegetable instruments, developing novel musical ideas and exploring fresh vegetable sound gardens. The music represents an isomorphism of electronic music and the structure of the sounds produced by the vegetables.

The concept of this remix project is the interpretation and reconstruction of electronic music with organic means. After the huge success of the Vegetable Orchestra Remix Trilogy with remixes by Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos, Gabriel Ananda, Märtini Brös, Oliver Hacke and Basteroid now Karmarouge is back on the block with the final chapter of this outstanding remix project.

Armed with vegetable samples, a sequenzer and a hand-held blender, it's up to Anja Schneider, Frank Martiniq and Sian to show the world how to brew a large portion of minimal techno out of ginger, leek and onions, how to buzz the pumpkin bass and cook a delicate celery soup.

It has been clear since his very first release, in late 2006 with 'Auftrieb' on Karmarouge, that Alexander Roland is an exceptionally talented producer. At 17 years of age and with little more than one year since his first production effort, Alexander Roland releases his second 12" on Karmarouge - Balungan.

The style of 'Balungan' is a kind of ethnic driven minimal electronic music, with many roots and elements coming from gamelan music and a laid back mood which tempts you to follow the sound to another dimension, moving into a deeper, more spiritual space. Finally, 'Balungan' has landed and it doesn't merely justify the hype, it goes beyond. This is not a first class follower. It's a first class 12". 'Balungan' is ripe with a musical intelligence well beyond Alexander's youth.

The A-side track 'Nada Irama' feels like a river cruise through a tropical rain forest accompanied by a delicate minimal melody. The clever use of dubby vocals and hypnotizing liquid sounds rule the intro. The groove and energy of the track develops out of a diversified drumset and an all-out reduction whereby various bassdrum variations conjure a mystical temper that is smoothly tripping you out to now, to this moment, to Nada Irama....

The titel track 'Balungan' on the flip side is related to the Javanese term for the basic melody of gamelan music, sometimes it is called the "core melody" of a gamelan composition. The track lets loose with atmospherical surfaces and a fruity melody that heightens the ethnic vibe. The deep sound structure and organic speaking sounds evoke the very unique atmosphere of 'Balungan' and bring in a breath of psychodelic spirit wich let you take a ride on a melody of the spheres to distant worlds.

Maik Loewen was already infected by musiccalitis in early years. And there was also his increasing fascination for beats. It did not take long till he started playing the drums and synthesizer. With the TB303 being one of his first instruments he immediately became addicted to electronic sounds and became quite skilled in using these new devices in his own productions.

During his apprenticeship at the recording studios he produced his first tracks. At the same time he started his collaboration with Oliver Hacke and Gabriel Ananda. They supported him to get his first record deals. Following his first releases on Tonsport 'Arnika EP', Karmarouge 'Mezcal EP' and Trapez 'One year one month' and remix projects for Walter Dahn und Jorge Gebauhr, his latest EP on Pokerflat „Even If You Sleep“, Maik finally appears on Karmarouge: The 'Backcountry Camping EP'. The three tracks on the EP nicely explore different nuances of Maik Loewen‘s present sound.
